Dr. Leila Shafiq is passionate about providing thoughtful, personalized care that helps adults stay healthy, active, and independent at every stage of life. A Tampa native, Dr. Shafiq earned her medical degree from the University of Florida College of Medicine and completed her internal medicine residency at the University of South Florida.
During her clinical training, she developed a passion for caring for older adults and saw firsthand how proactive, comprehensive primary care can make a meaningful difference in preventing illness, preserving independence, and improving quality of life. Her approach to geriatrics is guided by the 5 M’s: Mind, Mobility, Medications (with an emphasis on minimizing unnecessary ones), Multicomplexity, and what Matters Most. She believes in looking beyond individual medical conditions to understand each patient’s goals, values, and overall well-being.
Dr. Shafiq believes the best care is built on a strong partnership with her patients, with an emphasis on prevention, thoughtful treatment decisions, and care that is tailored to each individual.
Outside of work, Dr. Shafiq enjoys baking, running, and collecting vintage vinyl records.
